Top of the world

Dropping down 1200 vertical metres from 3000m three powder fields linked by two couloirs - this one steep and icy. Looking to the left we saw three mountain goats such was our isolation. Real pity that the only way in is a flat kilometre of ice followed by narrow steep black piste. Could only manage a run through it twice - took three hours - before my legs were jelly.

The black dot in the centre right of the picture is Andy sitting behind a rock on avalanche watch. Not actually a great place to sit as it happens but it looked sheltered at the time.
